Oeko Pharm
Fabrics made from medicinal plants
The “Öeko pharm” fabric was born with the idea of intrudocing in the market a particularly current and “trendy” product, not only for strictly textile prerogatives, but also for argumentations of ecological content, certainly credible and sustainable.
Öeko Pharm what is it?
It’s a registered trademark belonging to Bumatex, which distinguishes a range of fabrics made with the use of an infrequently used plant fiber: the Bohemeria Nivea.
An idea taht Bumatex can certainly claim as its own and original, regarding the field of manufacturing of fabrics for mattresses.
Bohemeria Nivea - Textile prerogatives.
From the stem and leaves of the plant yields a very fine fiber, clear, incredibly beautiful, long, soft and shiny. It is one of those bast fibers with flax and hemp. The most common fiber that is compared is just the flax, for which turns out to be more resistant to breakage and cleaner to the source.
Specific prerogatives of the fiber, used in its pure state, however, are the following:
- Extreme absorbency.
- Easily stain removability.
- Resistant to high temperatures.
- Does not restrict to washing.
- Easy to bleach.
- Natural resistance to bacteria and mold.
Bohemeria Nivea. Ecological prerogatives
Bohemeria is a spontaneous shrub with an amazing germinating strength: it does not need any fungicide treatment during growth, development and foliation of the plant. It follows that the fiber is free from typical contamination of pesticides used in agriculture. The plant’s natural resistance to diseases, parasites, bacteria and mold is then the prerogative, as already said, that moves to the fiber in the use, for textile purpose.
Bohemeria Nivea. Medicinal properties
The list of diseases in which the “Bohemeria Nivea” has proven to be effective is very long: the treatment of internal bleeding and skin infections, are certainly the most common uses of the active ingredient derived from the plant. The latter looks particularly attractive if presented as an attribute associated with the idea of using fabric for home use or in any close contact with the skin.
